  3. These ‘lovely little yellow bushes’ are called forsythia. While I would hate to label them or put them into a neat little category, their family name of Oleaceae tells the world what is required to keep this plant strong and healthy. Even though they change throughout their life, what is required to keep them flourishing remains the same (rules) – they will always reside within the category given to them by society.

Humans will also change throughout their lives. Even though we change, what is required to keep us healthy remains the same. What is good for us at one age may not be good for us at another. Placing boundaries that define and limit behavior can often be healthy as we continue to grow and learn about ourselves. Perhaps you are too young to be putting yourself within any gender category. Could this be ‘society’s expectation’ of you that makes you believe that you ‘have to do certain things’? Perhaps you are intended to just ‘be’ as person surrounded by friends - not interested so much in sexuality, labels, or adult behaviors at this age.

    My favorite quotes are –

“Looking at yourself in a mirror isn’t exactly a study of life” (Lauren Bacall).
“A sign of intelligence is an awareness of one’s own ignorance” (unknown)
A great many people think they are thinking when they are merely rearranging their prejudices” (William James)
